Lionel Messi reportedly has made Paris Saint-Germain decision

It seems that Lionel Messi had decided about his Paris Saint-Germain future before the latest saga involving the two sides began.

World football transfer insider Fabrizio Romano reported Wednesday that there are now "no doubts" that Messi will leave Paris Saint-Germain once the two-year contract he signed in the summer of 2021 expires at the end of the season.

"Behind the scenes, it’s now understood that Leo’s father Jorge communicated the decision to PSG already one month ago due to the project," Romano added.

Romano offered this update amid reports claiming that Paris Saint-Germain have suspended Messi for two weeks without pay after he went on an unauthorized midweek trip to Saudi Arabia to handle duties related to serving as a Saudi tourism ambassador. It was previously said that PSG manager Christophe Galtier and sporting director Luis Campo only permitted Messi to travel if the French giants earned a win or a draw against Lorient this past Sunday.

Lorient defeated PSG 3-1, but Messi nevertheless flew to Saudi Arabia without permission.

French football expert Jonathan Johnson has told Sky Sports News that "relationships between Messi and PSG are at an all-time low just two months before his PSG contract expires" and that Messi will allow his deal to run out before he becomes a free agent this summer.

Additionally, French outlet L'Equipe (h/t ESPN) said Wednesday that PSG won't renew Messi's contract.

Messi has been linked with an exit from PSG since at least early April and has reportedly been targeted by both Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia and Major League Soccer side Inter Miami. It's believed Saudi Arabia will not be outbid for the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner and that Messi could earn more than what Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly making with Saudi club Al-Nassr.

Reuters (h/t ESPN) mentioned on Wednesday that Ronaldo's contract "has been estimated by media to be worth more than €200M ($219.98M)" including commercial and sponsorship agreements.
