Lisandro Martinez is one of the players that has starred for Manchester United this season so far.

Martinez, who joined United in 2022, has made 102 appearances for the Red Devils in his spell with the club.

The defender has also scored three goals during this period too.

Furthermore, looking at this season specifically, the defender has made eleven appearances.

But, he did miss a large part of the first half of the season with him returning to first-team training in October ahead of his return in November against Crystal Palace.

Meanwhile, in Saturday’s Manchester derby against local rivals Manchester City, Martinez was able to keep a clean sheet as the Red Devils picked up a memorable 2-0 victory and the bragging rights.

Now, following the game, Lisandro Martinez has challenged Paul Scholes stating: “If he wants to say something to me, he can come to wherever he wants. To my house, wherever.

“And I think for me, I respect the relations when they want to help the club because everyone can talk on the television but when you sit here face to face, no-one says anything in your face.”

“So for me, I don’t really care what they say. I just put the focus on my performance, the performance of the team and I give everything to this club until my last day.”

Scholes had previously stated on his podcast The Good, The Bad and The Football: “Martinez against [Erling] Haaland … you need De Ligt and Maguire back for that” whilst joking about how he could see Haaland throwing him around.

Now, with Martinez responding to Paul Scholes’ comments, supporters could look towards this small saga with a sense of closure.

Meanwhile, fans may also choose to look towards United’s upcoming fixture against Arsenal which takes place next Sunday.
