If we were to look back on the past times, it is evident that Brazilian players have always been crucial to the contribution of Liverpool – be it Alisson, Thiago, Coutinho, or most significantly, Firmino. They always seem to come up big when it comes to playing under the lights at Anfield. Now, Liverpool look to add to their Brazilian lineage with Rodrygo of Real Madrid but they are competing against other competing Premier League clubs for him.
Rodrygo has been a target for the Premier League for some time—even before his 2019 transfer from Santos to Real Madrid. Jurgen Klopp had been tracking the Brazilian in the early days of his Liverpool tenure, fully aware of the promise of a player that continues to thrive in La Liga. Now at 24, he has been an essential player for Madrid in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad. He has endured a reduction of minutes after Kylian Mbappé was introduced; now, for the first time in his Real Madrid career he does not have guaranteed appearances in the starting XI.
When Rodrygo initially signed with Real Madrid in 2019 many saw this as a gamble as he had not yet performed at Santos. The gamble paid off with the Brazilian now over 115 goal involvement in just 267 games. Rodrygo’s position slipped even further following the arrival of Kylian Mbappé. Now TBR reports that the Brazilian could be preparing to move.
Graeme Bailey, chief correspondent for TBR Football, reports that Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester City have all recently engaged with Rodrygo’s representatives to inquire about his situation.
These clubs have maintained contact with the Brazilian in recent years, as he is a player any top team would want. However, for the first time, Rodrygo’s camp is now open to considering Premier League interest.
TBR Sources have confirmed that while Rodrygo is unhappy with his current situation, he plans to wait and evaluate his options under Real Madrid’s new manager. With Carlo Ancelotti leaving the club and Xabi Alonso likely to take over, Rodrygo is expected to assess how the change impacts his future.
Liverpool has always been interested in the Brazilian, even attempting to sign him last summer. At that time, Rodrygo opted to stay at Madrid to establish himself, but circumstances may now be shifting.
Rodrygo would be a perfect signing for Liverpool this summer, although his natural position is left wing; the teenager has been sensational as a right-winger. Mohamed Salah is currently Liverpool’s right-winger and just signed a new deal, but Rodrygo is able to perform on the left and centrally, as is noted to be one of the best things about him by Richards Hughes and other decision-makers with Premier League clubs.
