Liverpool legend linked with shock return to Premier League just months after latest move
MB Media

Former Liverpool star Roberto Firmino has reportedly been offered to a number of Premier League clubs as Al-Ahli look to offload the forward just months after signing the Brazil star.

The 32-year-old brought an end to a magical spell at Anfield at the end of last season in order to move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli but things have not gone to plan for the forward in the Middle East.

The Liverpool legend got off to a great start as he was made captain of his new club and scored a hat-trick on the opening day but Firmino has yet to score since.

In addition to this, the Brazilian has not started a Saudi Pro League game since 27 October and it is now being reported that the 32-year-old is unhappy with his situation and is open to leaving.

TalkSPORT are reporting that Fulham are among several Premier League sides who have been offered Firmino, with Sheffield United another linked to the 32-year-old.

However, according to Football Insider, Firmino is unlikely to return to the Premier League this month and any potential move will have to wait until the summer.

Firmino would be a great signing for either of the English clubs and his experience in the Premier League would help them achieve their goals for the season.

The 32-year-old made 256 appearances in the English top flight for Liverpool, scoring 82 goals and assisting a further 50 while winning the competition in 2020.

Journalist’s latest update spells the end of Man United transfer saga with ‘agreement in principle’ now reached

Barring any late intervention from Manchester United, Newcastle United are poised to reign victorious in the race for Benjamin Sesko. Indeed, the Magpies have had to step up their efforts to sign a centre-forward in the aftermath of last week’s blockbuster revelation that Alexander Isak had informed the board of his desire to explore other options this summer. His timing was deemed rather puzzling, given Arsenal, one of his potential suitors, had just reached an agreement for Viktor Gyokeres, Chelsea had signed both Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, and Liverpool beat Newcastle to the acquisition of one of their first-choice targets, Hugo Ekitike. Yet, the latter look set to continue their luxurious summer spending spree this week after agreeing a deal to sell Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich for £65 million – paving the way for them to submit a lucrative proposal for Isak in the coming days. Benjamin Sesko to Newcastle: The state of play Alas, Newcastle have – albeit begrudgingly – been made to identify a suitable successor to their prolific frontman, and have landed on Sesko as the eligible heir to Isak’s throne. Journalist Nicolo Schira revealed last night that the Slovenian international had reached ‘an agreement in principle’ with Newcastle, which would see him sign a five-year deal at St. James’ Park. Now, it’s up to the club to find an agreement with RB Leipzig, who’ve stood firm in their demands for their young talisman this summer. Why United have opted against submitting a bid for Sesko United have been credited with interest in Sesko, 22, on more than one occasion since the window opened, but their ongoing struggle to sanction any major permanent outgoings has left INEOS floundering at how they can sanction a striker’s arrival. Bundesliga insider Christian Falk claimed that Leipzig could accept a bid below Sesko’s £70m release clause, with £60.6m deemed enough to get a deal over the line. Still, though, this is likely to price United out of a move.

Kirk Cousins makes notable leadership move after Falcons practice

Kirk Cousins might be relegated to the job of backup quarterback, but he is showing veteran leadership to his Atlanta Falcons teammates. Following Sunday's practice, Cousins pulled aside rookie defensive end James Pearce to encourage the first-round pick after his fourth practice in the league at Flowery Branch, Georgia. "QB Kirk Cousins pulled aside Pearce after practice to compliment him on a pass batted down," wrote Marc Raimondi of ESPN. Cousins reportedly had a solid day of practice on Sunday, going 7-of-12 passing against the first-team unit. If Cousins wants out of Atlanta, he's not showing it at practice. The four-time Pro Bowl quarterback is competing on the field and being a good teammate around the facility. Cousins' actions on the field backed up what Falcons general manager Terry Fontenot praised Cousins for before the team's practice on Sunday. “Outside, it's a lot more of a deal than it is in the building,” Fontenot said to the media about the idea of friction between the Falcons and Cousins, per video from D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal Constitution. “He shows up, he does his job, just like anybody ... We've gotta build the best 70-man roster so we can go win games. "That's what we're focused on, and Kirk, just like all the other players, is focused on coming in here and doing their job. That's what he's been doing." Fontenot didn't dismiss the idea that Atlanta would trade Cousins before the season. He said the Falcons will do whatever it takes to make the team better, but stressed that Cousins has been a professional throughout the process of being replaced by Michael Penix Jr., a first-round pick from the 2024 draft. “In terms of making moves, whether it's trades or acquiring players, we're always looking at those factors," Fontenot said. "We're gonna do whatever we can do to make this team the best it can possibly be. But he's been a great professional, and he's handled himself well.” Cousins is coming to work in a manner that will make another owner want to take a chance on the veteran quarterback. That could be one of his best-selling points before he plays in his 13th season in the league.

All signs point to Yankees moving on from Anthony Volpe

With the trade for Ryan McMahon now complete, it would seem New York Yankees’ general manager Brian Cashman has fulfilled one of his three priorities. He can now cross third base off the list, which leaves the rotation and bullpen as his remaining priorities. However, according to one Yankees writer, Cashman might not be done with the infield. Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reported this after the McMahon trade: “The Yankees may not be done adding to their infield. A team source said the Yankees are interested in adding a right-handed hitter who could play the infield.” Kirschner adds that the Yankees have had interest in Willi Castro and Amed Rosario. But the question now is, how would another player fit into the Yankees’ infield? Needless to say, Paul Goldschmidt and Jazz Chisholm Jr. aren’t going anywhere, and McMahon is just getting there. That leaves the low-hanging fruit. Anthony Volpe has been at the center of controversy all this season. His 13 errors, many of which had come at make-or-break moments, amount to the second-highest total in the game. In addition, his bat has not been able to compensate, hitting .217/.288/.408 with 14 home runs. There was always a lot to like about Volpe. He won a Gold Glove in his rookie year, his power has always been promising and his speed is nothing to scoff at. Unfortunately, his glove has become a liability, and his speed has also produced very few results. Volpe has swiped just 10 bags in 17 attempts. His power is the one thing that still has some upside, but it hasn’t been enough to justify a spot in the lineup. Both Castro and Rosario have been far more productive at the plate this season than Volpe. Kirschner doesn’t clarify how serious the Yankees are in their pursuit of another infielder, but that most likely isn’t available information. Having just turned 24, Volpe could still become the type of player that was expected from him as a top prospect. However, his recent performance has weighed heavily on his team’s efforts, and it may be buying him a ticket out of the Bronx — or at least a spot on the bench.

Aaron Rodgers gushes about his mystery wife in new interview

Aaron Rodgers has managed to keep the identity of his new wife a secret, but the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback is certainly not hiding his feelings about her. Rodgers spoke about his wife during an interview with NFL Network at Steelers training camp this week. The 41-year-old had no problem being candid about how thankful he is to have met the mystery woman. “When you meet the right one and you’re with the right one, your whole world changes in a second. To have that person that unconditionally loves you behind the scenes, there’s no better feeling in the world,” Rodgers said. “And I’ve got the most incredible wife. I just really love her. I’m so thankful to have her by my side at the end. When you have that stability and that rock behind you at the house, you feel like you can do anything.” Rodgers first revealed in an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” last December that he had a girlfriend named Brittani. We are unsure of the exact spelling of the woman’s name, but Rodgers specified that she was “Brittani with an ‘I’” when he brought it up. Then in April, Rodgers told “The Pat McAfee Show” that he was in a “serious relationship” and had some off-field things consuming him. He had left open the possibility of retiring at the time. Shortly after that, Rodgers was spotted wearing what appeared to be a wedding band on his left ring finger. The former MVP confirmed after signing with the Steelers that he has been married since earlier this year. Rodgers seems determined to have his wife’s identity remain a mystery, but he still wants everyone to know how important she is to his life.
