While speaking to CaughtOffside, journalist Christian Falk stated that Premier League clubs are balking at the price that Eintracht Frankfurt are asking for.
“There is no completely new update on Hugo Ekitiké. Eintracht continue to insist on €100m, but it is questionable whether they will get it,” Falk noted. “Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United still have him on their radar. Liverpool could make a move once they have sold Darwin Nunez.
“United are the only club to have spoken to Eintracht about Ekitiké so far. There have been no negotiations or even an offer as things currently stand.”
Football Insider recently reported that Manchester United are unlikely to move forward with a summer deal for Ekitiké. The club had been linked with the France Under-21 striker in recent weeks while assessing options to bolster their attack ahead of the new season.
However, Eintracht Frankfurt are said to be asking for close to £85 million—a price tag that’s currently beyond what United are willing to pay. With no urgency to sell, Frankfurt are in a strong position to stick to its valuation.
