Caoimhin Kelleher has started in goal with Conor Bradley at right-back and Andy Robertson at left-back. Jarell Quansah started against Manchester City next to Virgil van Dijk with Ibrahima Konate injured.
Wataru Endo has continued his fine form as a defensive midfielder, post-injury, with Alexis Mac Allister to his right and Dominik Szoboszlai has returned to his left.
Luis Diaz plays on the left wing, with Harvey Elliott filling in on the right. Darwin Nunez is the Reds’ striker.
A huge match in the title race ended Liverpool 1-1 Manchester City.
This result suits Jurgen Klopp as it leaves him a point above Pep Guardiola, joint with Arsenal: and their two competitors still have to play each other.
However, fans were left slightly disappointed that the three points eluded them. The Reds were the dominant side, especially in the second half when they limited City to just three shots.
The home side certainly won the midfield battle, with another flawless performance from Endo. Meanwhile, Rodri looked like he was relatively struggling defensively.
This was partially due to Joe Gomez moving into midfield in possession, allowing the side to take almost triple City’s touches in the opposition box. In European fixtures, Liverpool won the first leg of this tie 5-1 away at Sparta Prague, and so will be confident and easygoing into this match.
Mohamed Salah has started on the bench for the past two matches, but Klopp insists that “everything is good now”. Whilst he’s “ready to start”, the gaffer was “not sure if he is ready for 90 minutes”. We expect the “iconic” forward to be a substitute once again.
Konate was not in the squad for the game at the weekend, but has been training alone. With no update from Klopp, we rule him out for this fixture.
Curtis Jones will return around the international break, with Alisson Becker and Trent Alexander-Arnold set to return after the international break. Diogo Jota is out for multiple months.
Ryan Gravenberch will not return from his injury sustained in the EFL Cup final, whilst Thiago Alcantara, Stefan Bajcetic, and Joel Matip are still recovering.
