Liverpool will be eager to improve on their memorable 2024/25 season, which saw the Merseyside club win the Premier League by 10 points. Arne Slot’s men have been active in the transfer window, and according to Sacha Tavolieri, Liverpool have made a move to secure the future of their “monster” defender Ibrahima Konate.
In preparation for the 2025/26 season, Liverpool have been active, making significant signings, with Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong and Armin Pecsi and most recently Hugo Ekitike joining the club.
Despite losing Trent Alexander-Arnold, Liverpool looks strong going into the new season. Last season, Arne Slot’s team had the second-best defensive record in the Premier League, with the Virgil van Dijk and Konate partnership being the cornerstone.
The new proposal to Konate will be to extend his deal until June 2029, while significantly increasing his wages. Sacha Tavolieri reveals Konate is considering his options as the defender opened the door to interest from Real Madrid. Losing Konate would be a significant blow to Liverpool, and they will be keen for the Frenchman to commit his future to the club and ward off this interest from the Spanish giants.
Liverpool’s squad looks strong and balanced heading into the new season, but further movement in the transfer market remains possible before the window closes on September 1.
Luis Diaz has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich, a development that will concern the Anfield faithful. One potential incoming transfer is Alexander Isak, whose future remains uncertain amid reports he has been training alone. Regardless of what happens between now and the end of the window, Liverpool will remain a team feared by rivals both domestically and in Europe.
