As Liverpool look to regain their balance in the Premier League ahead of the end of the January transfer window, there are some key moves up in the air.

Andy Robertson, Adam Wharton, and Virgil van Dijk are all central to renewed discussion as Arne Slot’s side balance short-term needs with longer-term planning.

Andy Robertson could seal Tottenham loan despite weekend start

Andy Robertson could still complete a late January move to Tottenham Hotspur despite featuring for Liverpool at the weekend.

TeamTalk are reporting Liverpool have made it clear that a loan switch remains possible, but only if the club are able to recall Konstantinos Tsimikas from his current loan spell.

Roma must first secure a replacement left back before allowing Tsimikas to return to Anfield, which would trigger the domino effect required for Robertson’s temporary exit.

Tottenham remain on standby as Liverpool monitor developments, with all parties aware that squad depth must be protected before any move is finalised.

Liverpool beat Real Madrid in race for Adam Wharton

Liverpool are reported to have moved ahead of Real Madrid in the race to sign Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton, according to Nicolo Schira.

The England international is said to be open to joining Liverpool on a long-term deal, with a five-year contract discussed as part of the proposed move.

Wharton has emerged as a priority target as Liverpool look to strengthen their midfield options, with the club acting decisively to fend off interest from Europe’s elite.

The development underlines Liverpool’s intent to secure young, high-ceiling players capable of contributing immediately and over the long term.

Virgil van Dijk not planned for Anfield exit

According to Football Insider, Liverpool have no plans to sell Virgil van Dijk and intend for the captain to see out his current contract at Anfield.

Virgil van Dijk remains under contract until the summer of 2027 and continues to be viewed as a core part of Liverpool’s defensive structure.

Despite scrutiny following recent results, Van Dijk has not missed a minute of Premier League action this season.

Liverpool’s focus is instead on adding depth in central defence during the summer window, with succession planning underway rather than any immediate departure for their defensive leader.
