Liverpool vs Norwich: Predicted XI

Liverpool have had a long standing history of not caring one iota about any domestic cups so this lineup has been made with that in mind. 

In goal we find the Irish international, Caoimhin Kelleher who is no stranger to playing for the first side. 

Kelleher has previously played in lucrative competitions such as the Champions League and the Premier League and it seems like he will make his debut in the energy drink cup. 

A completely new back four will take the pitch with a first team debut for Conor Bradley at right back. 

The youngster has claimed his place as the Under 23’s starting fullback and has clearly impressed in his stint. Bradley was not in the squad for the last Under 23’s match which was a big hint for his inclusion in this match. 

Gomez is in line to make his second start of the season and is to be partnered by last seasons hero-Nat Phillips. The pair have played together before so should have some familiarity.

Rounding off the back four is Kostas who may be starting back to back matches for the second time this season. 

Jurgen Klopp has shown in the past that he favours playing an inexperienced full back paired with an experienced player. 

The absence of Trent Alexander-Arnold means it’s likely that we will see a first team left back in the way of Kostas Tsimikas.

Curtis Jones has been confirmed to start which makes the midfield prediction a little bit easier. 

Klopp likes to have one of his captains playing at all times which explains Milner’s selection. 

The third man in the midfield could be a youngster but I believe Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain may be due to get some more minutes. 

AOC has been deployed as an attacker so far this season but I believe this may be his return to midfield. 

The front three could have another first team debut for 16-year-old Kaide Gordon who has impressed the coaching staff this season. 

Gordon was also missing from the last Under 23 match which signifies a call up to the first team for this fixture. 

Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino fill out the remaining places up front with both wanting to prove themselves to earn more playing time. 

Minamino made his return from injury to Liverpool’s bench last fixture so the Norwich match is the perfect time to build his fitness. 

Divock impressed in his last start against Milan and will need to keep up the same form to stake his claim as king of the bench.
