Fans at Anfield headed into the season worried after one of Liverpool’s greatest ever managers Jurgen Klopp departed for retirement last season. Replacement Arnie Slot was a complete unknown. To say expectations were surpassed would be a complete understatement. Mohamed Salah had a career season leading them to the title.

Looking Back At a Historic Liverpool Campaign!

Liverpool’s 2024-25 Premier League title charge was nothing short of historic. In Slot’s first season at the helm, the Reds clinched their first top-flight crown since 2019-20—and their 20th overall. They finished with 84 points, 10 clear of second-placed Arsenal, and 11 points ahead of preseason favorites Manchester City. They struggled with injuries during the season.

From the start of the season, Slot’s side showed an unshakeable consistency. Early on, they destroyed newly promoted Ipswich Town 4-1 before overcoming a packed winter schedule balancing Champions League and domestic cup fixtures. With their smart recruitment, they had great depth. A late January 3-2 loss at Fulham was a rare stumble. Liverpool rebounded with a gritty 2-1 win over Wolves on February 16 and then stunned City 2-0 at the Etihad on February 23.

Mo Salah Had His Best Season!

The leader of this campaign was Mohamed Salah because of his relentless excellence. He ended the season with 29 league goals and 18 assists, totaling a record 47 goals contributed in 38 matches. That matched Alan Shearer and Andy Cole’s 42-game tallies. But it wasn’t a one-man show. Diogo Jota, Darwin Núñez, and new midfield anchor Ryan Gravenberch each stepped up at different phases. Trent Alexander-Arnold was an excellent playmaker, and Alisson and Ibrahima Konaté provided the defensive steel.

Liverpool got the title on April 27 with a dominant 5-1 home victory over Tottenham Hotspur. That night at Anfield, Salah opened the scoring before Jota, Núñez, and two late goals from Kostas Tsimikas, wrapped up the win. The emphatic nature of the victory not only confirmed their championship status but delighted the Kop with Liverpool’s first top-flight triumph in front of their fans since 1990!

Slot Was An Important Piece To Amazing Liverpool Campaign!

Slot instilled a high-pressing philosophy with fluid positional rotations. It was a perfect evolution of the Klopp era that combined structural discipline with creative freedom. That made it easy for older players to adapt. The midfield three of Gravenberch, Fabinho, and Wataru Endō dominated possession while the full-backs overlapped aggressively, creating overloads that Tore and Fábio Carvalho often exploited.

Fun Wasn’t Restricted To the Pitch

Off the pitch, the club celebrated its return to the summit with legends such as Steven Gerrard and Rafael Benítez leading the trophy parade. Yet the elation was tempered by tragedy, as a vehicular incident during the celebrations injured several supporters.

A great ending!

On the final day, a 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace at Anfield offered a fittingly dramatic send-off to the season. Salah’s stoppage-time equalizer—his 29th league goal—ensured the home crowd witnessed history, and the players lifted the trophy amidst jubilant scenes. Thanks a bunch for reading!
