Liverpool's Fabinho has house broken into during Premier League title celebration

Liverpool winning the Premier League title after 30 years sparked massive celebrations in the areas surrounding Anfield, but one player won't be celebrating as hard after his home was broken into.

While Fabinho and his Liverpool teammates celebrated lifting the Premier League title, his home in Formby was broken into, according to ESPN (h/t the Associated Press).

Police say jewelry and an Audi RS6 were stolen, though the car was found 20 miles from the home in Wigan. Authorities are collecting security footage and forensically examining the home and vehicle. Fabinho discovered the burglary when he arrived home early on Thursday.

Liverpool defeated Chelsea 5-3 at Anfield in their final home game of the season before lifting the trophy to end their 30-year title drought.

While fans were encouraged to stay home because of the coronavirus pandemic, about 3,000 still showed up to celebrate the title win. Out of the 3,000 fans who attended celebrations outside of Anfield, only nine were arrested on charges ranging from assault to disorderly conduct.

Fabinho isn't the only Premier League player in recent months to be burgled. Tottenham's Dele Alli was held at knifepoint by burglars who stole jewelry from his home in May. Jan Vertonghen also was burglarized during a Champions League match earlier in the season and Sadio Mane had car keys, watches and cellphones stolen from his home.
