All things considered, Liverpool superstar forward Mohamed Salah had an excellent 2021-22 season.
He and his teammates hoisted the League Cup and FA Cup, and they finished second behind only champions Manchester City in the Premier League table. As noted by Reuters (h/t ESPN), Salah also won Premier League Playmaker of the Season, Football Writers' Association Men's Footballer of the Year and Professional Footballers' Association Fans' Player of the Year, and he shared the Premier League Golden Boot (top scorer) with Son Heung-min of Tottenham Hotspur.
However, Salah was unable to hit the back of the net or create a goal in last weekend's 1-0 UEFA Champions League final defeat to Spanish giants Real Madrid. The 29-year-old took to Twitter on Thursday to assure fans he'd give up every individual honor to replay that final.
Being recognised by the fans and by the sports journalists in the same season is something special that I will never forget. I would however give all those personal awards up for a chance at replaying that final, but that is not how football works. pic.twitter.com/vOoXZgl9MK

I cannot express in words how much we wanted to bring that trophy back to Liverpool but in the end we couldn’t. I cannot thank the fans enough for your support. It has been a very long season but a part of me wishes the next one starts again tomorrow. pic.twitter.com/6ECyIL0AHN

Salah won the Champions League with Liverpool when they defeated Tottenham in the 2019 final. He is currently set to be out of contract next year but said last week he plans to stay with Liverpool through the 2022-23 campaign, so he theoretically will have one last chance to bring supporters another European night to remember beginning later this year.
