Samuel Chukwueze got the chance from start in AC Milan’s clash against Frosinone yesterday, hoping to build on the goal against Borussia Dortmund. However, as highlighted by Andrea Longoni, he took a step back instead.
The Nigerian has been struggling at the start of this season but finally got off the mark with a great goal against Dortmund mid-week. Against Frosinone, however, he didn’t have as much success and was named the clear flop by Gazzetta dello Sport.
Several players did very well for Milan, such as Theo Hernandez and Luka Jovic, but Chukwueze took a step back as argued by Andrea Longoni. In his editorial for MilanNews, he highlighted the Nigerian’s main issue.
“[…] On the other hand, Chukwueze took a step backwards compared to the positive performance in the Champions League against Dortmund. Too many mistakes, sometimes he wants to overdo it but it only creates confusion,” he wrote.
Milan will face Atalanta in the next round and it remains to be seen if Rafael Leao will be back for that game. If not, then Chukwueze will get another opportunity to prove himself, having arrived for a fee of €28m including bonuses in the summer.
