'Looking at getting rid of…' – Tottenham urged to sell 23-year-old responsible for recent defeat

Former Tottenham Hotspur scout Bryan King has expressed strong opinions on the club’s transfer strategy, asserting that Spanish winger Bryan Gil should be the first player to leave this summer.

King’s comments come after Tottenham’s post-season friendly against Newcastle United, which ended in a penalty shoot-out loss following a 1-1 draw in regulation time.

During the friendly, James Maddison opened the scoring for Tottenham, but Alexander Isak equalised for Newcastle just before half-time.

The game went to penalties and the Magpies won after Bryan Gil missed the only penalty of the shoot-out.

Discussing the expected outgoings, Bryan King told Tottenham News:

“Tottenham have a lot of work to do.”

“It is going to be a busy summer in terms of outgoings, and Gil would be top of my list to be sold.

“I would also be looking at getting rid of the likes of Emerson Royal, Yves Bissouma, Giovani Lo Celso and Richarlison.

“These are players who would probably interest clubs in Europe and the Premier League.”

Gil is a name consistently mentioned as someone who is on the list of players Tottenham will sell this summer.

He has struggled to establish himself at Spurs since signing from Sevilla, and has spent most of his time out on loan.

This season, under manager Ange Postecoglou, he avoided another loan stint but managed to feature in 11 league games all season.

Gil’s contract with Tottenham runs until the summer of 2026, but the 23-year-old is reportedly eager to secure a permanent transfer away from the English club.

He has no interest in another loan move and is determined to find a new home. Recently, La Liga side Sevilla has shown strong interest in signing the winger.
