Days ahead of staff and players reporting for preseason camp, Loons head coach Eric Ramsay has popped up as a candidate for a potential managerial opening in France's top league.
According to The Guardian, Ramsay is "under consideration" for the potential opening at Ligue 1 side Strasbourg FC. The potential Strasbourg opening would be a domino effect from Premier League side Chelsea parting ways with manager Enzo Maresca on Thursday.
Several names are currently being considered for the Chelsea opening, including current Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior. The Guardian notes that Chelsea hopes to fill its managerial vacancy in the next few days.
Chelsea and Strasbourg share the same ownership group. Ramsay has previously links to Chelsea, having coached their Under-23 team from 2019 to 2021.
Last winter, Ramsay was linked with openings at Swansea City and Southampton.
Ramsay took over Minnesota United in early 2024 and is under contract through the 2027 season. The 34-year-old has led the Loons to back-to-back appearances in the Western Conference semifinals in his first two years in charge. Minnesota United also made a run to the 2025 U.S. Open Cup semifinals in 2025.
The Loons set numerous club records in 2025 including most wins in a single season (16), most points in a season (58), and best goal differential in club history (+17). The club set those marks despite selling its top goal scorer, Tani Oluwaseyi, in August.
Minnesota will open preseason training camp in the coming days as they prepare for the 2026 season. The Loons will begin regular season play on February 21 at Austin FC before their home opener against FC Cincinnati on February 28.
