MLS side Los Angelos FC are reportedly eyeing up former Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou to become their new boss…

The 59 year-old is highly sought-after following his triumph in guiding Tottenham to a Europa League title in May against Manchester United in Bilbao, a historic achievement that ended the club’s 17-year trophy drought – though he was brutally sacked by Tottenham Chairman Daniel Levy just over two weeks later.

Ange Postecoglou drawing attention from clubs around the world

Having previously coached in Australia and Japan before his successful stint at Celtic, Postecoglou is now drawing international attention from clubs around the world.

Now, according to a report on the BBC, ex-Celtic scout Neil McGuinness is backing big Ange as the ideal candidate to take over at Los Angeles FC.

With LAFC manager Steve Cherundolo set to depart for Germany at the end of the season, LAFC and McGuinness are going all-in to secure a high-profile replacement.

Oliver Giroud – The Celtic striker than never was

Los Angeles are eyeing more than just a playoff spot and believe Postecoglou is the right man to lead a new chapter for a team that featured former Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud (the Celtic striker that never was). However, according to reports, the French striker is set to return to his homeland after agreeing a deal with Lille.

Meanwhile, Ange Postecoglou has also drawn interest from multiple European leagues and Saudi Arabia and is expected to be a top contender for Premier League roles once clubs begin making managerial changes. Leicester City are also looking for a new manager who can help the return to the Premier League after last season’s relegation and could also be a possible destination for the hugely popular former Celtic boss.

Ange was widely praised for the job he did at Celtic

The Treble winning Hoops manager gained widespread praise for his trophy-laden two years in Glasgow, which paved the way for his move to North London in 2023.

A strong Celtic connection at LAFC includes Odin Thiago Holm

LAFC have more Celtic links with Odin Thiago Holm currently out on loan at the MLS side.

The Norwegian was on the bench for all three of LAFC’s matches at the Club World Cup as they finished bottom of their group consisting of Flamengo, Chelsea and Esperance.

Holm featured in three Scottish Premiership games for Celtic but has failed to make an impact for the Scottish champions since his £2.6 million move from Valerenga in June 2023, with his injury issues being a major cause for concern.
