Luis Henrique was a wise investment for Inter

Inter wanted Luis Henrique for a long time and spent €25m included bonuses to organise it early with Olympique Marseille, so they knew to ignore the idle chatter and wait.

We are finally seeing action on the field interrupt the grumbling around this player.

He is a transfer target who the Nerazzurri had locked down for some time, even working with Marseille to ensure he was available for the FIFA Club World Cup.

The investment of €25m including add-ons was because they were confident that he was the ideal candidate for this role in the squad and could be the heir to Denzel Dumfries.

It is also only natural that a player who focused mainly on attacking in Ligue 1 would need a while to adapt to the more pressing tactical requirements of Serie A, where some defending is also needed.

Inter did well to resist any kind of proposal, including from Roma, and the signals seen in his performance against Como go well beyond the assist that illuminated that Lautaro Martinez goal.

Now it can be said for certain, they did not make a mistake with this investment.
