Luton Town officially sign Manchester United midfielder

Luton Town have had a good start to their League One campaign, picking up four points from their opening two matches of the season.

The Hatters, aiming to go one step further after narrowly missing out on the play-offs last season, have made six signings so far this summer.

Crucially, the League One outfit managed to retain the services of Kasey Palmer who was imperative in their good form during the second half of last season.

Transfers have also helped to strengthen elements of the squad that had appeared weaker last season, whilst retaining a large part of the core has helped manager Jack Wilshere in his preparation for the upcoming campaign.

Now, with just a matter of days remaining in the transfer window, The Hatters have completed their latest signing with the club taking to their official website to reveal the news.

In a statement on the website, it has been announced that Manchester United midfielder Dan Gore has made the switch to Luton on a loan basis until the end of the season.

Gore, who spent last season developing professionally at Rotherham United, had been reported to be closing in a move to The Hatters earlier this month.

Speaking after signing on the dotted line, the midfielder said: “I’m buzzing to get it done. I know Luton is a big club, and I like the style that Jack is trying to play.

“I think you had something like 70% possession in that game at Kenilworth Road last season, so it was always interesting to me.

“I think it can definitely improve me, having a lot of the ball. At United we’re used to keeping the ball and being technical.

“It helps that Jack’s the gaffer because he’s been there and done it, and he knows what it’s like to be at the top level. Coming from a Premier League club, you’re going to develop a lot under him because he’s been there himself.”

Manager Jack Wilshere said: “Dan was someone who, when we played Rotherham in the home game quite early on in our time here and drew 0-0, we spoke about as coaches, saying that we really liked him.

“He’s got something a little bit different. He’s aggressive in duels. He can carry the ball. He’s got personality on the pitch. He loves a tackle, and he’s someone that we kept our eye on in the second game up there.

“I thought we were actually really good that night and we dominated most of the game, but he never gave up. I kept seeing him trying to drive his team on.

“He’s got a really good education at a top club in Manchester United, so he’s definitely someone who comes in to improve us in that midfield area.”

With the signing now confirmed, focus will switch towards preparing for their upcoming clash against Stockport County on Wednesday 2nd September.

Whilst playing at League One level once again, Dan Gore appears to be taking the next step in developing his professional career.

Under the guidance of seasoned professionals, and Jack Wilshere, the midfielder will have the perfect space to develop over the course of the coming season.

Should he be successful with Luton, he could take the step up next season. Focus will remain on making that possibility a certainty during the coming months.
