Luton Town are one of the outfits that are aiming for success in League One this season with the Hatters currently seventh in the English third tier after their first 29 games of the campaign.
Furthermore, the January transfer window (which is quickly coming to an end) has provided Luton with the opportunity to improve their squad and, subsequently, their chances of a play-off finish.
So far this month, Jack Wilshere’s side have signed Emilio Lawrence from Premier League outfit Manchester City on loan whilst also gaining the services of Kasey Palmer on a loan basis from Hull City.
However, with just over two days of the window remaining, the Hatters may be looking to strengthen further.
Now, Luton have made their next signing with the player the son of a Manchester United legend.
Announcing the news on their official website, Luton Town have unveiled Devante Cole as their latest recruit with the forward making a permanent move from fellow League One Port Vale.
The forward had been at Vale since the end of last summer’s window, when he signed for the outfit.
However, after just a matter of months with the side, he has made the move to the Hatters.
Cole is the son of United legend Andy Cole who made 275 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 121 times.
Speaking about the signing on the official Luton website, the forward stated: “It’s been a long week, but I’m very happy to get it over the line.
“Since I first became aware of the interest, I wanted to be a Luton player and I’m glad it’s finally at this point.
“I’ve been to Kenilworth Road a few times and it’s always a hard place for an opposition team to play, but I’m looking forward to getting out there with the fans behind me now.
“It always helps you settle in quickly at a new club when there are familiar faces, and I know Mads very well from my time at Barnsley and Kal from when we were at Wigan together, so I’m sure all the lads will be good. I can’t wait to get going now.”
Devante Cole could make his first-team debut for Luton against Bradford City next weekend.
