Madrid side make offer to sign Jadon Sancho

Manchester United’s attack has been short of natural wide options for much of this season.

Amad Diallo only returned from an ankle injury this month, Marcus Rashford has been managing a hip problem, and Bryan Mbeumo has had to shoulder the load on the right.

The summer’s outgoings were considerable, with Casemiro leaving for Inter Miami, Rasmus Hojlund’s move to Napoli made permanent and Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir sent out on loan.

One of United’s most expensive recent signings among those who left has yet to find a new home.

Five months on, he is still without a club and has been training with a non-league side in Manchester.

Madrid side make offer to sign Jadon Sancho

Jadon Sancho could be set for a surprise move to Getafe, after the LaLiga side made him an official contract offer, according to Sky Sport.

Talks are under way, with manager Jose Bordalas said to be an admirer of his dribbling ability and versatility.

Jadon Sancho became a free agent when his contract expired at the end of June, ending a five-year spell that began with a £73 million move from Borussia Dortmund in 2021.

He made 83 appearances for United, scoring 12 goals and providing 6 assists, and was part of the 2023 Carabao Cup-winning squad.

His time at Old Trafford was marked by a falling-out with the coaching staff, leading to loans at Dortmund, Chelsea and Aston Villa.

At Villa last season he made 39 appearances and scored just once, as the club won the Europa League.

Chelsea paid a penalty fee rather than sign him permanently, with sources saying he refused to lower his wages.

He is reportedly seeking around £3.4 million a year, a figure Getafe cannot afford, so he will need to lower his demands.

Russian champions Krasnodar reportedly turned him down last month.

Dortmund have ruled out a third spell, and moves to Fiorentina, Roma and Palmeiras never materialised.

Getafe are 14th, with 8 points from 8 games, just two points clear of the relegation zone after only two LaLiga wins.

They have scored 4 goals all season and were beaten 3-0 at Barcelona last weekend.
