There is no doubt that Tottenham have hired the best possible replacement after sacking Ange Postecoglou earlier this month. The Lilywhites have confirmed the arrival of Thomas Frank and expect the Danish tactician to lead the club forward following the Europa League success. It is not going to be an easy task for the 51-year-old, but his technical adaptability and intelligence will get him over the line.
The highly-rated manager did a fantastic job at Brentford during his seven-year stay at the club. Not only did he lead the club to a top-flight promotion in 2021, but he also managed to make the Bees a solid mid-table team in the Premier League on a low budget. The West London club’s record against the ‘Big Six’ teams in the league last season was admirable as well.
Many fans are still sceptical about Thomas Frank’s arrival and the 51-year-old will need to get the fans and players back on board quickly. It is not going to be an easy task to replace Big Ange after the Australian ended the club’s 17-year wait for a major trophy last season. But the ex-Brentford boss can take inspiration from him as he lays his own blueprints at N17.
A new down is on the horizon as Tottenham look to build on the Europa League success next season. The fans are ready for a new chapter as Thomas Frank admitted that he wants to make Spurs ‘serial winners’ during his time at N17. The Danish tactician’s technical intelligence and his ability to bring out the best from his players will surely lead the club forward.
Now, Paul Robinson believes that Thomas Frank’s ability to adapt will prove to be decisive as he will look to succeed at N17. Speaking to Tottenham News, Robinson said,
“I think there’s a versatility with Thomas Frank. I think with Postecoglou, you knew everything that you were going to get every week with the team. The formation, apart from towards the end of the season, they became a little bit more pragmatic and slightly more defensive-minded, but he played the same system.”
The ex-Spurs player added,
“I think with Thomas Frank, you see him adapt almost weekly for the opponents that he’s playing against. I think that’s going to be the biggest noticeable change immediately from him is the team’s ability to play in different shapes and different formations on a regular basis, sometimes in-game. I think the in-game management that he’s got as well. He makes players better, Thomas Frank.”
Paul Robinson suggested that Thomas Frank’s versatility will help him succeed at N17. The ex-player added that Ange Postecoglou had the same approach in every game and the opposition knew what was coming from Ange’s men as they played the same system. However, Robinson believes that Thomas Frank adapts against different oppositions and his team play in various shapes and formations depending on the opponent. The Danish tactician’s in-game management is also a positive as he makes players better.
It remains to be seen how Thomas Frank goes about his business at N17. The 51-year-old is keen to work with the squad as he looks to start strong next season. He will be under tremendous spotlight from minute-one and fans will hope that Daniel levy gives the Danish tactician some time to adapt before judging the results on the pitch.
