Manchester United have already reached an agreement to sign Atalanta midfielder Ederson.

However, the Brazilian’s arrival has not yet been officially announced following his involvement at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

While Michael Carrick’s side continue to strengthen their midfield options, several former Manchester United players are also finding new clubs ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

Earlier this week, former academy graduate Arnau Puigmal officially brought an end to his four-year stay at UD Almeria after making 162 appearances for the Spanish club.

The midfielder has now wasted little time securing the next chapter of his career.

Former United midfielder completes transfer

RCD Mallorca have officially confirmed on their website the signing of former Manchester United midfielder Arnau Puigmal on a contract running until June 2029.

The 25-year-old joins Mallorca after featuring in 47 matches for UD Almeria last season, bringing valuable experience from both La Liga and the Segunda Division.

Puigmal will be familiar to Manchester United supporters after spending four years at Old Trafford between 2017 and 2021 following his move from Espanyol.

Although primarily a central midfielder, he was also used at right-back during his time in United’s academy before later featuring on the right wing and even as a striker during his spell with Almeria.

Following the expiry of his Manchester United contract in 2021, Puigmal joined Almeria on a free transfer.

He established himself as an important member of the squad, while also spending part of the 2023/24 campaign on loan at Elche.

His departure from Almeria was officially confirmed yesterday, ending a successful four-year spell in which he accumulated 162 appearances for the club.

Mallorca have now moved quickly to secure his signature, making the Spaniard their second signing ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The club highlighted Puigmal’s experience in Spanish football, as well as his development through the youth systems of Espanyol and Manchester United before representing Spain at youth international level.

Still only 25 years old, Puigmal arrives on the island with significant senior experience and the versatility to operate in multiple positions, giving Mallorca another valuable option as preparations continue for the new campaign.
