Malo Gusto has revealed the winning mentality at Chelsea is one thing that’s surprised him since joining the club.

The Blues signed the France international from Lyon in the summer of 2023, and on the whole it’s fair to say he’s been a good signing.

Gusto had a brilliant first season under Mauricio Pochettino, before struggling under Enzo Maresca in the last campaign.

However, Gusto now appears to be getting back towards his best form, and has played an important role so far this season.

The 22-year-old has made 34 appearances in all competitions, and Gusto scored the first goal of his senior career against Wolves, before adding a second against Everton.

The Frenchman provides a good alternative to Reece James at right back, and has also played at left back and in midfield this season.

Despite being under contract until 2023, there have been reports suggesting the Blues want to offer Gusto a new contract, and he’s now revealed one thing which has surprised him at the club.

“The winning mentality,” he told Chelsea’s website.

Reece James should be fit for Arsenal

With Chelsea travelling to Arsenal on Sunday it’ll be interesting to see what Liam Rosenior opts to do with Gusto.

He started at left back against Burnley, and he could be preferred to Jorrel Hato again, or there could be a start at right back.

However, Rosenior expects James to be fit after taking him off in the second half against Burnley, and if the Blues are to have any chance of a positive result they need their captain on the pitch.
