Crystal Palace are preparing for life without centre-back Marc Guehi and they have already identified their transfer target.

The Premier League side will face competition to sign him though, with Juventus are actively chasing the versatile defender wanted by Oliver Glasner’s team.

Juventus are reportedly preparing to go head-to-head with Crystal Palace for the signature of Nathan Ake, as the Dutch defender considers his future at Manchester City ahead of the winter transfer window.

Nathan Ake is a man in demand ahead of January window

According to Juve Live, the Serie A giants have identified Ake as a key target as they look to reinforce their defensive line midway through the season.

At 30 years old, Ake remains one of the most versatile defenders in Europe, capable of playing both as a centre-back and left-back. However, despite his reliability and professionalism, the former Bournemouth and Chelsea player has struggled for consistent minutes under Pep Guardiola this season.

The report adds that Ake is open to a new challenge in January to secure regular playing time ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he hopes to play a central role for the Netherlands.

Ake’s experience in the Premier League and his tactical intelligence make him a perfect fit for clubs looking to strengthen their defensive depth.

However, Crystal Palace are also in the mix, driven by the looming uncertainty around Guehi’s future. The England international has attracted strong interest from Liverpool, Manchester United, and Real Madrid, meaning Palace are actively searching for a replacement.

Ake to replace Guehi at Crystal Palace?

Ake has experience at the top level but due to the options at City, Guardiola has not used him enough this season and that has not gone down well with the Dutch defender.

With both Juventus and Crystal Palace poised to make their move, January could mark the beginning of a new chapter for Ake.

He would be an ideal replacement of Guehi at Selhurst Park but the opportunity to play for Juventus might turn his head.
