Man United should sign Club World Cup bargain for just a quarter of Richard Ríos’s price

Global tournaments offer a rare stage for players from outside Europe to catch the eye of big clubs – and this summer is no different.

It’s often the World Cup that provides these breakout moments, but the expanded Club World Cup might serve a similar purpose this year.

Manchester United will have their scouts at the tournament, hunting for under-the-radar talent, and a few names have already started to stand out.

Richard Rios, now on United’s radar, has been one of Palmeiras’ standout players and is set to face Chelsea in the quarterfinals.

Rios is valued at around £25m, which could represent strong value considering his impact. But there’s another midfield option who might come even cheaper – one who impressed despite Monterrey’s exit.

Nelson Deossa could prove an even better bargain than Richard Rios for Man United

Nelson Deossa stood out even as Monterrey lost to Borussia Dortmund, putting in a performance that gave United fans plenty to talk about.

Deossa didn’t just hold his own. He had a bigger impact on the game than Jobe Bellingham, showing the kind of energy and ball-winning ability United have been missing in midfield.

The 25-year-old wasn’t just busy – he was effective. Statistically, he stood out both defensively and as a ball carrier throughout the tournament, suggesting he’s caught the eye of more than one club.

For a club looking to add depth without spending big, Deossa could be the kind of smart pickup Manchester United need – especially considering his market value sits under £6m.

Nelson Deossa fits what Ruben Amorim needs

Even though Ruben Amorim has shown faith in Manuel Ugarte, United still need another midfielder to strengthen the squad.

Deossa has the athletic build that Amorim has said he wants. He’s strong in the tackle, covers a lot of ground and can drive forward with the ball – all qualities that would add balance to the midfield.

Wilfred Ndidi might be a similar but more experienced option. However, his salary demands could be a problem – something that wouldn’t be an issue with Deossa.
