Benjamin Sesko has found his form at Manchester United, but things haven’t gone as smoothly for him on the international stage.
It took a while for Sesko to get going at Old Trafford, but he’s now started finding the back of the net more consistently. He scored against Sunderland, giving him two goals in two games before the October international break interrupted his run.
This week, he played in a goalless draw for Slovenia and will be back on Monday night when they take on Switzerland in another 2026 World Cup qualifier.
Slovenia will be looking to pick up three points, and Sesko will be keen to break his scoring drought with the national team.
Sesko is facing the real possibility of missing out on the World Cup, making Monday’s match against Switzerland a crucial one for Slovenia’s hopes. Beyond the team’s needs, he also has personal reasons to break his scoring drought.
According to Siol, Sesko hasn’t found the net for Slovenia in 639 minutes of play, a run that now spans six matches.
It’s his longest dry spell since joining the national setup, with his last goal coming from the penalty spot against Norway back in November 2024.
If he doesn’t score against Switzerland, it will mark a full year without an international goal, with Slovenia’s next fixture set for November 15th.
After facing Switzerland, Sesko’s attention will quickly shift back to club duties, with a massive fixture looming on the horizon.
Manchester United are set to visit Anfield on Sunday afternoon, and Sesko is expected to feature in Ruben Amorim’s lineup.

With goals in each of his last two appearances, the striker will be keen to extend his run against United’s fiercest rivals. Finding the net during the international break would only boost his confidence further heading into that match.
