Manchester United are considering a creative approach to dealing with Andre Onana’s future this summer.

Onana’s injury in early July highlighted concerns about the club’s goalkeeping depth, an issue that still hasn’t been addressed.

With Radek Vitek and Elyh Harrison both sent out on loan, United are currently relying on Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton to cover the position.

Onana could be back in time for the start of the season. However, fans have already raised doubts about him two years into his stint at Old Trafford.

There has also been talk around the club potentially bringing in another goalkeeper, and Onana’s place in the squad doesn’t seem entirely safe.

Manchester United are looking into the idea of loaning out Andre Onana this summer. The move would free up wage space and allow the club to bring in a replacement.

United In Focus has learned that the club would be open to sending Onana out on loan, but only if they first secure a new starting goalkeeper.

Gianluigi Donnarumma has recently been offered to the Red Devils, who had previously considered a move for Emiliano Martinez.

With Paris Saint-Germain bringing in Lucas Chevalier as his replacement, they now seem ready to move Donnarumma on, as he has just a year remaining on his current deal.

Transfer expert Graeme Bailey explained to UIF: “The chance to upgrade to one of the best keepers in the world is something probably too good to refuse and they are working on that department.

“Selling Onana will be tough, but he could be loaned – I am told there is a possibility if it facilitates something else.”

Onana remains first choice for now

Onana is still viewed as the club’s number one, and once he’s back from injury, the expectation is that he’ll return to his usual role in goal.

But if Manchester United pick up their efforts to bring in Gianluigi Donnarumma, that situation could quickly change.

The window has already seen United struggle to move players on, so selling Onana would be difficult. A loan deal might be a more practical solution if the right replacement becomes available.

The club’s main focus remains finding a striker, with midfield reinforcements also being considered. Only after those positions are addressed will goalkeeper become more of a priority, depending on what resources remain.
