Everton are in a much better place now, with Moyes back in charge.

The club have spent a lot of time fighting to stay up over the past few seasons, first under Frank Lampard and then Sean Dyche. Off the pitch, things have not been much easier either, especially after the ten-point deduction in November 2023 for breaching financial rules.

But this season, the first full campaign under Moyes since 2012/13, feels different. The team looks steady and even has an outside shot at European qualification.

Even so, one former Everton manager is currently having an even stronger season. Marco Silva has Fulham sitting just above them and has reportedly caught the eye of Manchester United.

According to Sportsboom, the Portuguese manager is on Manchester United’s radar as Sir Jim Ratcliffe weighs up whether to keep Michael Carrick or bring someone new in.

Carrick has impressed since taking over from Ruben Amorim, picking up wins against Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham that have helped push the Red Devils into the top four.

Sportsboom also report that the Spurs are looking at Silva as a possible replacement for Thomas Frank, who is yet to get things going at Spurs. They are currently down in 14th place.

Jose Mourinho could be replaced by Marco Silva

Everton may have hired Silva at the wrong time, as he is now considered one of the best managers in football, having rebuilt his reputation after a failed stint at Goodison Park.

Benfica are reportedly interested in him as well, seeing Silva as a potential successor to Jose Mourinho if the current manager decides to leave Portugal.

Everton have their own decision to make with Moyes, who is already into the final 18 months of his contract. The club will need to decide whether to offer him an extension soon.

Moyes has done a solid job stabilising Everton after a few turbulent seasons. Whether he stays beyond his current deal remains to be seen, but there is no doubt he has brought much-needed stability to the club.
