Man Utd hero Vidic: Mainoo similar to Modric

Former Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic has lavished praise on youngster Kobbie Mainoo.

The English midfielder, who is only 18, managed to get his first home goal against Liverpool on Sunday.

Mainoo scored in a 2-2 draw against the title chasing Reds at Old Trafford, with Vidic comparing him to Real Madrid star Luka Modric.

"Mainoo has been fantastic, especially his awareness in these areas," Vidic told Premier League Productions.

"He reminds me sometimes of Modric.

"He always feels who is behind him. You can see, he took the first touch, straight away moved to the side, then it was a great strike.

He's difficult to defend against."
