Tottenham Hotspur winger Ivan Perisic has been linked with a move away from the club.

The 34-year-old winger is currently sidelined with a serious injury and he is unlikely to play again this season. His contract comes to an end in the summer and he will move on as a free agent.

Hajduk Split manager Mislav Karoglan has now revealed that he would like to sign the Tottenham winger in the coming months. The 34-year-old has been linked with a return to his homeland in recent months and it remains to be seen where he ends up eventually.

He said on Dalmatinski Portal: “I don’t know how his recovery is going after the injury, and the only thing I can say from my side is that I would like to have him in the dressing room whenever possible.”

Perisic has proven to be a useful acquisition for Tottenham and he was a key player for them last season. Signed by the former Tottenham manager, Antonio Conte, the 34-year-old impressed with his experience, versatility and consistency last season. Mostly deployed as a wingback, the Croatian international chipped in with one goal and 12 assists across all competitions.

He is versatile enough to operate on either flank as a winger as well as a fullback. Despite being 34, he could be an important player for Split next season.

Signing a player of his quality and experience on a free transfer could prove to be a masterstroke from the Croatian outfit.

It will be interesting to see if they can sort out an agreement with the player. The 34-year-old will be able to open talks with foreign clubs next month and secure a pre-contract agreement with them.
