Manchester City reportedly planning move for two-time Champions League winner

Rodrygo Goes has been a hot commodity on the transfer market this summer. The Real Madrid winger has drawn significant interest from Arsenal, and now it appears that Manchester City is exploring the possibility of bringing the Brazilian to northwest England.

According to a report from Caught Offside, any move for Rodrygo will hinge directly on whether Tottenham Hotspur solidifies its interest in Savinho. City would use the funds from that sale to bankroll a push for the Real Madrid star.

"The situation is closely tied to Tottenham, who are currently in negotiations to sign Savinho, but face stiff resistance from City over the fee, sources close to the agents industry have informed CaughtOffside," Ahad Shaukat reported. "Only if Tottenham return with a significantly improved offer will the Premier League giants consider letting Savinho depart. Should that happen, Pep Guardiola and his recruitment team are ready to shift gears immediately towards Real Madrid star Rodrygo."

Rodrygo has been with Real Madrid for six seasons, winning three La Liga titles and two Champions Leagues. Last season, he registered six goals and five assists in league games, and a total of 14 goals and 11 assists across the board. Not only would Rodrygo replace Savinho, but he would also fill some of the creative void that Jack Grealish's departure has created.

If City can get Rodrygo through the door before the close of the transfer window, it will be another coup in an impressive summer overhaul. Pep Guardiola has already added Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Rayan Cherki, James Trafford, Sverre Nypan and Marcus Bettinelli to the squad.

As City looks to close the gap with Liverpool and challenge for the Premier League title, adding Rodrygo would give it the additional firepower and creativity needed from the wing. City has an exceptional squad that has once again been retooled after showing signs of aging. However, the opportunity to land one of the best young wingers in the world doesn't arise every day.

So, not only should City be pushing ahead with its plans to acquire Rodrygo from Real Madrid, but it would also serve it well to negotiate Savinho's exit over the coming days. Maybe then, City will be ready to challenge on all fronts once more.
