Manchester City reportedly 'pushing ahead' with bid to sign Tottenham's Harry Kane

Manchester City are "pushing ahead" with their bid to sign Tottenham's Harry Kane despite continued denials from the Spurs that they are prepared to listen to offers, according to ESPN's Rob Dawson.

City have a little more than two weeks to complete a deal before the transfer window closes on Aug. 31.

Tottenham are said to value Kane at more than £150 million. According to ESPN, Man City have suggested they would be willing to break the British transfer record to acquire the star striker.

The Sky Blues had already broken the transfer record earlier this summer when they paid £100 million to sign Jack Grealish from Aston Villa.

According to ESPN, City could go as high as £120 million plus add-ons for Kane. However, there has been no indication Tottenham would accept an offer in that region.

Manchester City reportedly offered Tottenham £100 million for Kane in June, and it was reported the Spurs had "no intention" of accepting that offer.

While City chiefs still believe they can land Kane this summer, according to ESPN, Pep Guardiola and his coaching staff are not nearly as confident. Still, City's need for a striker and Kane's desire to play the Champions League are a natural fit, so nothing should be ruled out just yet.

Kane has spent the last nine seasons with Tottenham, scoring 162 goals in 220 starts. It was reported that he would demand a transfer if the Spurs missed the Champions League in 2020-21, which they did.
