Manchester City to sign a Brazilian winger this summer and it could be a shrewd piece of business

Manchester City are reportedly set to sign Brazilian winger Savio in the summer. Savio has starred for La Liga leaders Girona so far this season. If the move does materialise it could represent a shrewd piece of business from the world champions.

Ryan Taylor reports for the Mirror that the treble winners plan to sign the Brazilian winger this summer. With Savio being owned by CFG club Troyes, a move seems an easy one to complete. Taylor adds that Savio could get the chance to impress in pre-season if he were to move to the Etihad.

The potential signing of Savio would be a smart piece of business for the world champions. His talent has become apparent during his spell with Girona this season. With City in the market for a right winger this summer he may be the ideal candidate to fulfil the role. He wouldn’t immediately demand first-team football given his age therefore he wouldn’t disrupt team harmony. Savio could in theory compete with Oscar Bobb for the role. It would give Pep Guardiola two elite young prospects to develop into first-team players.

Another positive if the club signed the Brazilian winger would be his resale value. If Savio didn’t make the grade at the European champions he would hold immense value in the transfer market. Given his age and potential, there would be no shortage of suitors for Savio if he didn’t make it into the City first-team set-up.

A move for Savio seems a logical one for Manchester City. They would be landing one of the premier young prospects in European football with tremendous future value on and off the pitch. It appears that a summer move may be on the cards for the winger.
