Manchester City vs Everton: Team news and predicted City starting eleven
picture alliance

Up next for Manchester City is a visit from Sean Dyche’s Everton side to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday. It is another crunch Premier League clash between two sides at the opposite ends of the table. A win for Pep Guardiola will see them go top of the table before Liverpool and Arsenal are in action this weekend. For Everton, they will be eager for all three points to aid their fight against relegation.

Manchester City team news

Following their 3-1 win over Brentford Pep Guardiola’s squad appear to have a full squad available for Saturday’s match.

Erling Haaland completed 85 minutes against Brentford as he builds up his form after a two-month injury layoff. Manuel Akanji may be a candidate to start after returning to the City squad against Brentford. Pep Guardiola will have no shortage of options as his team bids to make it 10 consecutive wins in all competitions.

Everton team news

Everton will be without four key players for their trip to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday. Sean Dyche informed the media that Abdoulaye Doucoure, Arnaut Danjuma, Andre Gomes and Dele Alli will all miss the clash with the world champions. Amadou Onana has returned to training for the Toffees and may feature on Saturday.

Predicted Manchester City starting eleven

Ederson: It would be expected that Ederson remains in goal against Everton. He wasn’t at his best against Brentford but he is almost an automatic selection.

Manuel Akanji: With Akanji fit again and City in action against FC Copenhagen next week it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Kyle Walker rested here. Akanji is more than capable of playing right back and could start on Saturday.

Ruben Dias: City’s defensive leader is beginning to return to form of late. He should start against Everton in a must-win clash for the champions.

John Stones: With the England international missing Monday night’s win over Brentford he could be in line to start against Everton.

Josko Gvardiol: The Croatian international is becoming a key piece of City’s structure. He should start again here.

Rodri: A no-brainer selection. Rodri is key to how City play and will no doubt start on Saturday.

Matheus Nunes: Nunes could feature against Sean Dyche’s side. With his drive from midfield, it may be a necessary attribute if Everton sit deep.

Kevin De Bruyne: Given De Bruyne’s form of late he also appears to be an automatic selection. He could be key in unlocking Everton’s defence.

Phil Foden: Coming off a hat trick against Brentford Foden should start again on Saturday. He is in the form of his life and is almost an automatic selection for Pep Guardiola.

Julian Alvarez: Has become a key player this season. If he and Haaland both start on Saturday it could see their partnership continue to develop.

Erling Haaland: Haaland should start again on Saturday. He is continuing his return to full fitness and a start at home seems the next step in his return from injury.
