Manchester United have agreed to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha, their first transfer of a huge summer ahead.
Talks from both sides were ongoing for weeks, with the personal terms already set for the Brazilian International. And according to reporter Fabrizio Romano, the two sides agreed verbally on a deal that would make Cunha a Red Devil until June 2030 with an option until 2031.
Manchester United will pay the full release clause of £62.5 million ($84.7 million) to bring in Cunha.

Despite the club narrowly missing out on competing in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) next season, Cunha’s desire to be at Old Trafford was clear. Manchester United fell to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final 1-0.
Cunha is a versatile attacker who will most likely become an intricate piece to Manchester United’s rebuild. He is capable of playing at striker or No. 10, providing manager Ruben Amorim freedom to build an adaptable lineup.
Cunha cemented himself as a serious offensive threat with 15 goals and six assists this season for Wolverhampton and 12 goals and seven assists in 2023-2024.
Failing to qualify for the UCL limited Manchester United’s spending capacity, but Amorim has still been given a nice budget of £100 million ($135.4 million) to improve the team.

Although a large amount of the budget is being spent on Cunha, there are moves the club can still make, whether that be cheaper signings or selling current players.
To fund more transfers, players who have been on loan, such as Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, and Antony, are likely to be sold. There is a belief around Old Trafford that Amorim is targeting a new goalkeeper and midfielder, so this summer is a massive one for the Premier League giant.
As Manchester United look to improve on a disastrous 2024 Premier League campaign, Cunha’s arrival should make things a lot easier.
