Manchester United have been working on their plan of keeping hold of players who are viewed as part of the long-term project at Old Trafford.
With competition for places expected to increase, several members of the squad have attracted attention from clubs looking for attacking reinforcements.
United’s wide areas have become an interesting position to watch.
Despite outside interest, Amad Diallo is expected to remain at Manchester United after clubs made approaches for the Ivorian winger, as Fabrizio Romano reported on X.
According to Romano, United have no plans to sell the 23-year-old this summer, with the club seeing him as an important part of Carrick’s plans moving forward.
The decision ends speculation over one of the possible exits that had developed around the attacker, with Sunderland among the teams who have tried to bring him back following his successful loan spell there.
The Black Cats reportedly made multiple attempts to re-sign Amad Diallo after his impressive time at the Stadium of Light, but United rejected their approaches.
Interest remains, but the Red Devils have made their stance clear that the winger is not available.
Amad’s place in the squad will still come with challenges, though, after a difficult second half of the season at club level.
The arrival of Bryan Mbeumo changed the attacking picture, with the former Brentford forward eventually taking control of the right-wing role when he first arrived.
That competition could prove beneficial for United, with Champions League football, domestic cup matches and a long Premier League campaign creating opportunities for multiple attackers.
Mbeumo’s ability to play centrally or on the wing gives Carrick tactical flexibility, while Amad will be hoping to rebuild momentum after an inconsistent domestic spell.
The winger finished last season with 2 goals and 4 assists in 33 appearances.
Amad also made headlines during the World Cup by scoring a dramatic 90th-minute winner against Ecuador in Ivory Coast’s opening group match.
The forward previously appeared to hint at his future at United when he posted a picture on Snapchat in March, alongside the caption, “What is meant to grow does not stay in the same place forever.”
United believe Amad’s growth is best continued at Old Trafford, with the club turning down approaches and backing him to compete for his place under Carrick.
