Manchester United attacking target open to Premier League move

Manchester United are in the final few weeks of the summer transfer window with the club aiming to improve the squad before the window slams shut.

The club have spent large amounts of time in the transfer window focusing on midfield positions with Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans both being signed.

United have also signed goalkeeper Karl Darlow, however, with Altay Bayindir and Radek Vitek both leaving the club as they join Celta Vigo and Middlesbrough respectively.

One area the club has not recruited in this summer, though, is the striker position. Last summer’s transfer window focused primarily on improving attacking positions with Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko all making the move to Old Trafford.

Manchester United have been linked with a number of strikers, even with this, including Inter Milan striker Pio Esposito.

The Sun have now revealed that United have sent scouts to watch the 21-year-old during pre-season matches this summer.

Pio Esposito himself is also open to a move to the Premier League, according to the outlet.

Inter Milan have previously pushed back moves from both United and Arsenal for the striker, although the former’s interest still looks to be prominent.

The striker made 35 appearances in Serie A last season, scoring seven times whilst providing three assists.

He also scored two goals in nine appearances for Inter in their 2025/26 Champions League campaign whilst appearing at the Coppa Italia and the FIFA Club World Cup.

Focus may now switch to Manchester United to see if any further move is forthcoming following the club’s latest scouting.

With the transfer window closing at the start of September, United are running out of time to complete deals although the club may be still confident heading into a crucial stretch of the window.
