Manchester United have had a number of areas to focus on in terms of reinforcements this season. The Red Devils have had a couple of very poor seasons in the Premier League and Ruben Amorim will know that he has to get things right for the 2025/26 season.
One position that the club is looking to improve this summer is Andre Onana. The Cameroonian goalkeeper has spent the last couple of years at Old Trafford after joining them from Inter Milan. However, the player has failed to settle in as expected and his performances have been mistake-ridden.
Onana is currently injured with a torn hamstring, and it will be difficult for the club to ship him out this summer. However, it doesn’t stop them from bringing in a new number one. What Man Utd need is a player who has an aura about him and knows how to command the goalpost.
Nick Pope could become a target for Manchester United if Newcastle sign Aaron Ramsdale, as he fits the profile to challenge Andre Onana.

Now, as per TalkSPORT (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United could end up profiting from a typical transfer window dynamo effect as Newcastle United goalkeeper Nick Pope has now emerged as a transfer target. The 33-year-old could be available for a move this summer.
The Tyneside-based club are closing in on a transfer for Aaron Ramsdale from Southampton and this could prompt them to sell their existing first-choice goalkeeper. It is now on Manchester United to decide if they want to make a move for the veteran Englishman or not.
One thing that you can be sure of with Pope is the fact that he is experienced in the Premier League. He has been playing at the top level for some time now and it may be the last opportunity that the 33-year-old has in his career to play as a regular number one for a top team.
Age isn’t necessarily a concern for goalkeepers who tend to get better as they age. Pope’s reflexes are still very sharp and although he is not the best with the ball at his feet, he would provide some much-needed security to the shaky United defence should he come here.
Considering Pope’s age, it is highly unlikely that he would be very expensive this summer. With the player also in the final year of his contract with the Magpies, this is the perfect time for Man Utd to swoop in without making a massive dent on their budget. Let’s wait and see how things play out.
