The Premier League clash between Tottenham and Manchester United ended as a 2-2 draw. Bryan Mbeumo scored a goal in the first half to put the visitors in the driving seat. Spurs sparked a late comeback after Mathys Tel and Richarlison scored two quick goals, but Tottenham’s lead was short-lived as Matthijs de Ligt scored a late equalizer to snatch a point for the Red Devils.
There has been a lot of talk lately surrounding Mbeumo. The Cameroon international joined Manchester United this summer and has made an instant impact on the squad, scoring six goals and providing one assist in 12 appearances this season.
Prior to Mbeumo’s move to Manchester, Thomas Frank was keen on reuniting with the player at Spurs, having managed Mbeumo for a lengthy period at Brentford. However, Daniel Levy failed to make the move happen as the player was reportedly keen on joining the Red Devils.
Things could have turned out differently if Levy had been quicker to sack Ange Postecoglou and appoint Thomas Frank, which might have given them a trump card to lure Mbeumo to N17.
As reported by Tottenham News, Postecoglou was sacked 16 days after their Europa League triumph. This gave Manchester United enough time to plot a move for the prolific winger.
Considering Tottenham’s mounting injuries and attacking troubles this season, a player like Mbeumo would have been a significant addition to the squad.
Later in September, Levy stepped down from the executive chairman position at Tottenham Hotspur. He was heavily criticized by fans for not showing enough ambition in the transfer market.
However, the 63-year-old still deserves praise for his endless contributions to the club. He delivered the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to fans, which offers modern-day technologies and hosts a series of other events, boosting club revenue.
