Manchester United Face Stiff Competition From Premier League Duo in Race to Sign Ajax Star

Ajax goalkeeper Diant Ramaj has emerged as a standout player this season, catching the attention of Arsenal, Manchester United, and Chelsea. According to Sport Bild’s Christian Falk, the Premier League trio are reportedly keen on securing his services in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Arsenal, Man United, Chelsea Interested In Diant Ramaj

Speculation Surrounding Potential Moves

Having emerged from the youth system of VfB Stuttgart, Ramaj has been instrumental in Ajax’s rise from the relegation zone to fifth place in the Eredivisie standings this season. Despite enduring a challenging season, the young goalkeeper has been impressive between the posts, conceding only 26 goals in 17 league appearances.

Falk has suggested that Arsenal, Manchester United, and Chelsea are closely monitoring Ramaj’s progress. This interest comes despite these clubs having signed new goalkeepers previously.

There is speculation that Ramaj could slot into Arsenal’s squad as the second-choice goalkeeper behind David Raya. With Aaron Ramsdale’s future uncertain following his unexpected benching, Ramaj could provide valuable depth to Mikel Arteta’s side.

United goalkeeper Andre Onana has experienced a tough season, conceding 54 goals and managing only ten clean sheets in 35 games. Meanwhile, Altay Bayindir, Erik ten Hag’s second-choice keeper, has seen limited action since joining during the summer transfer window.

Kepa Arrizabalaga’s potential departure from Stamford Bridge following his return from Real Madrid might create an opening for Ramaj. Chelsea’s signing of Robert Sanchez last August for £25 million hasn’t gone exactly as planned as he fell out of favour after suffering a knee injury in December, leading to Djordje Petrovic taking the reins as Mauricio Pochettino’s first choice.

Europa League Showdown and Future Prospects

Ramaj has captured significant attention with his composed performances for Ajax since departing Eintracht Frankfurt for a fee nearing £7 million last August. Initially starting as a substitute, he swiftly became the primary goalkeeper ahead of Geronimo Rulli and Jay Gorter.

The German youth international has an opportunity to showcase his abilities against English opposition as Ajax prepares to face Aston Villa in the Europa League Conference last-16.
