Manchester United’s failed bid to sign Angelo Stiller has been uncovered ahead of this summer’s transfer window where the club are preparing for a midfield overhaul.

As revealed by CF Bayern Insider, the Red Devils had been in the market for Stiller last summer but were not able to clinch a deal due to the club coming in too late.

The outlet have also stated that Manchester United may view the midfielder as a serious target for this summer.

Manchester United’s upcoming midfield overhaul

Casemiro’s departure from the club at the end of the season has sparked a midfield overhaul as the Red Devils aim to strengthen their squad.

Last summer’s business focused, primarily, on improvements to the attack and defense with Bryan Mbeumo Matheus Cunha, and Benjamin Sesko all signed in attacking positions whilst Senne Lammens arrived for the goalkeeper position.

Casemiro looks set to join Inter Miami this summer, having agreed a deal with the American outfit, whilst Manchester United have expressed their interest in Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali.

The club’s interest in Tonali became apparent during the early stages of February and CentreDevils exclusively uncovered talks between United and the midfielder’s representatives in March.

Newcastle United want close of £100m for the Italian international, though, and he is also wanted by Real Madrid, making a potential move harder.

Similar conclusions can be drawn from the club’s interest in Elliot Anderson with Nottingham Forest wanting close to the Premier League record of £116m for the English international.

Stiller could therefore emerge as a cheaper option, with CF Bayern Insider stating that Stuttgart may look to sell the midfielder for £43.5m.

Angelo Stiller’s 2025-26 season

The midfielder has made 45 appearances so far this season, scoring twice and providing eight assists, with the majority of these matches coming in the Bundesliga.

Looking more specifically, Angelo Stiller has had a pass accuracy of 88.2% and has created 48 chances, helping to benefit the German team as they aim for success.

He has also made 38 tackles and 110 defensive contributions against oppositions, aiding Stuttgart in their efforts.

In comparison to Casemiro, he has a better pass accuracy (88.2% vs 80.9%) and has created more chances (48 vs 32) potentially showing that signing Stiller could be good for Manchester United.

His cheaper price, quality, and age (25) make a potential signing good for the Red Devils. Focus could now switch to see if the club follow the past and make a move for the midfielder.
