Manchester United’s impressive season is almost at an end with one game left as they’ve already sealed their third-place finish, and a return to the Champions League.

However, United’s Women’s season has already finished, with the club coming in fourth overall, just missing out on European football after their historic run this season.

Their Champions League campaign this year saw them reach the finals of the tournament for the first time, making it through to the Quarter-Finals.

Unfortunately it was there they were knocked out by Bayern Munich, with the United women then turning their focus back to the Women’s Super League.

Now tonight, at the Barclays Women’s Super League Football Awards, Manchester United have been recognised on many fronts.

While Jess Park and Maya Le Tissier made the Team of the Season, Phallon Tullis-Joyce became the recipient of the Champion of Change award.

Now, the talented shotstopper has spoken out about the work she’s done with the Manchester United Foundation to win her the annual award.

Phallon Tullis-Joyce on her work with the Eco Reds

Explaining the work she’s been doing, focusing on marine biology conservation, Tullis-Joyce commented: “In the marine biology space, I think I’ve been really lucky to work with the Manchester United Foundation and the Eco Reds program.”

She continued: “It’s really a testament to all the students. They stay after school, and I bring lots of props, arts and crafts, and teach them about our oceans, our environment, and how amazing they are.

“It’s all about inspiring the next generation of conservationists. That’s what I love doing with our Eco Reds.”

Manchester United also celebrated the award, taking to their official website to promote her work with the Eco Reds.

Explaining the work she has done, the announcement read: “Phallon Tullis-Joyce has had another impressive season between the sticks for United, just one shy of Golden Glove winner Hannah Hampton’s eight clean sheets across the campaign.”

The statement continued: “But the 29-year-old has been just as inspirational off the field, scooping the WSL’s Champion of Change award, which recognises players who positively influence good causes.

“A certified deep-sea diver with a degree in marine biology, Phallon has used her specialist knowledge to inspire and educate the local community ever since joining United in 2023.

“Delivering lessons on environmental sustainability, driving our Foundation’s Eco Reds programme, lending her expertise to students on a recent visit to Chester Zoo and taking part in a workshop to create bucket hats from recycled materials are just some of the ways the USA international has assisted positive initiatives.
