Manchester United’s goalkeeping department has undergone some major changes in the last few months.
Former first-choice goalkeeper Andre Onana was demoted to be a back-up for Altay Bayindir.
Senne Lammens was then signed from Royal Antwerp for £18 million, leapfrogging Bayindir to become the new first-choice keeper.
In the meantime, Onana was then loaned out to Trabzonspor, seemingly ending his United career after two problematic seasons.
However, there’s another keeper on the United horizon who’s been excelling out on loan in the form of Radek Vitek.
The 22-year-old has come through the United academy, and is now on loan with Championship side Bristol City.
Impressively the talented shot-stopper started the season well, winning the Player of the Month award for August 2025.
However, Vitek has now hit a major setback having missed this weekend’s game to Middlesbrough.
Now, the BBC has reported that Radek Vitek is set to be out until February having undergone a small procedure on his knee.
The report explains that the 22-year-old is set to undergo his rehabilitation and recovery at Bristol City rather than returning to Carrington.
This will be a blow for Bristol City, with Vitek being their first-choice keeper, having made 21 appearances for the club, keeping seven clean sheets so far.
Thankfully however Bristol has other options to rely on.
Max O’Leary took to the pitch in City’s 2-0 win over Middlesbrough, whilst Joe Lumley and Lewis Thomas also wait in the wings.
That said, with Radek Vitek due to continue his rehabilitation at his temporary club, it’s clear they’re keen to have him back on the pitch as soon as possible
