Manchester United hold talks for Eduardo Camavinga

Manchester United are continuing their midfield rebuild, with the initial intention of signing three new players for the middle of the pitch.

Over the last few months we’ve seen a whole host of players eyed up by United, including Elliot Anderson, Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes.

While Anderson has joined local rivals Manchester City from Nottingham Forest for £116 million, Tonali and Fernandes have joined Spurs from Newcastle and West Ham for a combined £185 million.

With the trio having opted for other clubs, Manchester United in their place have brought Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans to Old Trafford from Chelsea and Aston Villa.

However, Fabrizio Romano has now reported that Eduardo Camavinga could be set to be The Red Devils third midfield signing.

While United have been looking at Real Madrid for some time, focus has been firmly on Camavinga’s teammate Aurelien Tchouameni.

Now, Romano has taken to his YouTube channel to explain that United have held internal talks over the potential of signing Camavinga by the end of the summer.

Speaking about the situation, Romano explained: “Man Utd are considering a few options before deciding who is the player they want.”

He continued: “Another option mentioned internally in the meetings has been Eduardo Camavinga.

“So, Camavinga, Manu Kone, defensive midfielder who can run, who can help with intensity, also physical. So this is what Man Utd are looking for.

“Camavinga doesn’t want to leave Real Madrid this summer. Camavinga wants to stay, Camavinga wants to be an important part of Real Madrid project next season.

“The Camavinga story could only be possible if the player decides to go. So this is why the deal for Camavinga is complicated.”

It’s also understood that Camavinga would be available for around £43 million, which adding to the combined £85 million spent on Santos and Tielemans, brings their midfield signings to £128 million.

At the start of the summer it was reported that £150 million was being put aside to sign three midfielders, so a deal in this region for the Real Madrid star would see them come in under that budget.
