Former Manchester United winger Mason Greenwood is set to depart Marseille once and for all.

After leaving the Red Devils to sign for Spanish LaLiga side Getafe on loan in 2023, Greenwood made the permanent switch to Marseille.

Greenwood experienced a difficult time in France off the pitch, clashing with senior figures at the club in disagreements, contributing to the club showing him the exit door.

It’s been apparent for some time that the former Manchester United player would be leaving Marseille, despite starring for the club when in Ligue 1 action.

Greenwood’s next destination is set to be Turkey, where he will join giants Fenerbahce. Until now, one hurdle remained – and that was his former club, Manchester United.

The Red Devils reportedly have a right of refusal to the transfer, but are unsurprisingly set to stamp their approval on the deal.

As well as this, club have now informed Marseille that they will not trigger their buy-back clause for Mason Greenwood, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on X, meaning the move can now go ahead.

It means a fourth club at the age of just 24 for Mason Greenwood, as he looks to reignite his career in Turkey after ventures in Spain and France.

After scoring 48 goals across two seasons for Marseille, it proved to be the off-field matters that ended Mason Greenwood’s time at the Ligue 1 club. The former United player will be hoping to make his fresh start in Turkey count next season.
