Manchester United loanee’s club have already decided against making deal permanent this summer

Hannibal Mejbri will return to Manchester United this summer no better off than when he began his loan spell.

The Tunisian departed for Seville in January in hopes of securing increased game time away from Old Trafford, having made just 10 appearances for United across the first half of the campaign.

However, things haven’t gone to plan in the slightest for Hannibal, and it’s actually been nothing short of a nightmare transfer for him. He’s made just four appearances in total, which have totalled a mere 89 minutes on the pitch.

Against Almeria and Celta Vigo, the 21-year-old was an unused substitute, while he was dropped from the squad entirely for their last outing away to Getafe.

Reports have suggested that United are frustrated with their player’s treatment, given that the spell was a chance for him to showcase his abilities in a first-team squad week in, week out. Hannibal had even rebuffed interest from Everton to make the switch to the La Liga outfit, though, he’d have certainly been better off gaining experience under Sean Dyche.

Hannibal back at square one

Now, as if it wasn’t already pretty clear, Manchester Evening News claims that Sevilla will opt against making the Carrington graduate’s move permanent at the end of the season. There was a £14 million buy clause (plus £3m in add-ons) inserted into his contract, with United also having a buy-back option until June 2026.
