Manchester United keep tabs on Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga

Manchester United continue to search for players who could add solidity to their midfield. That search now circles back to a familiar name. Their long-time admiration for Eduardo Camavinga has surfaced again, as Football Insider reports, via former chief scout Mick Brown, that the Frenchman has stayed on United’s radar for years.

Brown, who worked during the club’s most successful period, said the 22-year-old caught their attention when he played in France, and that interest began even before he moved to Real Madrid. His progress since then only strengthens that early belief.

Camavinga’s current situation at Madrid draws curiosity across Europe. Although he continues to develop under Xabi Alonso, his recent absence from the starting line-up raises questions about his role in the first team. Brown hinted that, if the midfielder wants a new challenge, England could tempt him.

United continue to look for depth and quality in midfield, and the France international’s energy and technical ability match their rebuild plans. However, Brown admitted some uncertainty about how well he would adapt under Ruben Amorim, amid growing pressure on his tactics.

“Manchester United have admired Camavinga for a while. When he was playing in France, he was one of the world’s top talents. He earned that move to Real Madrid, and I think he’s improved since he went there.”

“Seeing he’s not been in the team much recently, you have to question it because he is a very talented player and one who would do a job for a lot of clubs. If the opportunity to move to the Premier League came up, it could be something he looks to explore, and Manchester United could take advantage of that. They want improvements in midfield, and he’s a very good option. I’m not so sure how well he would fit into Amorim’s system, but that’s for them to decide. He’s somebody they know a lot about and one I’m sure they will be aware of if he becomes available, so it wouldn’t surprise me if they made a move for him.”

Would Camavinga be worth the gamble?

If the Red Devils sign Camavinga, it would show serious intent from their side. United need a midfielder who possesses intelligence with energy in his legs, and the Frenchman offers both. He dictates play from deep, drives forward, and can even fill in at left-back.

This would provide United with the tactical flexibility they often miss in stressful games. Casemiro continues to struggle for consistency, and Bruno Fernandes needs a partner who links defence and attack smoothly. Camavinga would fit that role well.

However, Real Madrid do not plan to sell him easily. Reports say the Spanish giants value him at around €80 million , a price that could make United hesitate. Yet the appeal remains strong, especially if the player seeks regular football amid heavy competition in Madrid. Chelsea and Newcastle United also monitor his situation and could start a bidding war.

Camavinga’s profile fits perfectly with United’s next phase of rebuilding with a quality defensive midfielder. He has the youth, versatility, and relentless energy in his repertoire. Camavinga will restore balance to a side that has struggled for control. If the chance appears, United must take it with both hands.
