Orlando Gill has emerged as the latest player on Manchester United’s transfer shortlist as Michael Carrick continues strengthening his squad for the 2026/27 season.
United have already completed four signings during the summer transfer window.
Andrey Santos became the club’s first midfield arrival after joining from Chelsea in a deal worth up to £50 million.
Youri Tielemans then followed from Aston Villa after Manchester United activated the release clause in his contract.
The club have also strengthened their goalkeeping department by signing experienced Wales international Karl Darlow following the expiry of his Leeds United contract.
Most recently, highly-rated winger Tynan Thompson completed his move from Tottenham Hotspur as United continued investing in young talent.
Despite those additions, recruitment work remains ongoing behind the scenes.
Manchester United have now started making contact over another player who impressed scouts throughout recent months.
According to Brazilian outlet RTI Esporte, Manchester United have made initial contact to assess a move for San Lorenzo goalkeeper Orlando Gill.
The 26-year-old enjoyed an outstanding 2026 FIFA World Cup with Paraguay.
Gill made 23 saves across five matches, kept two clean sheets and played a crucial role as Paraguay knocked Germany out in the Round of 32.
His performances dramatically increased interest from Europe, with Lazio and Torino also monitoring his situation.
RTI Esporte report that Manchester United intensified their interest after the World Cup, having already tracked Gill throughout the Argentine season.
San Lorenzo are reportedly demanding €10 million to sell the goalkeeper this summer, despite his contract running until December 2027 and including a €20 million release clause.
Gill has previously confirmed the existence of the release clause in his contract, explaining that any transfer would require an agreement benefiting both himself and San Lorenzo.
Manchester United reportedly admire Gill’s aerial ability, commanding physical presence and confidence when playing with the ball at his feet.
With Senne Lammens established as first choice and Karl Darlow arriving this summer, Gill is the latest goalkeeper to be linked with a move to Old Trafford.
