Liverpool has finally won the Premier League title after a 30-year drought, and while many are celebrating at Anfield, one manager isn't too happy about the victory.
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer congratulated Liverpool on their victory, but admitted he was disappointed watching another team hoist the trophy.
"First of all, any team that wins the championship and a Premier League deserve it and deserve credit, it's a hard league to win," Solskjaer told a news conference via Zoom on Friday, according to ESPN's Rob Dawson. "Well done to Jurgen and his players.
"Every time you see anyone else lift the trophy it hurts. I reckon that's the feeling of everyone associated with Manchester United -- players and supporters. We want to get back to winning ways and that's our challenge."
United has gone seven years without a title, but Solskjaer, who's been their manager for 18 months, knows his club can improve and be more consistent. After being runners-up during the 2017-18 campaign, United finished sixth last season, seemingly taking a step backward. United currently sits fifth in the league, but they probably don't have a chance of making a splash during the rest of the season.
Liverpool was crowned champions thanks to Chelsea's 2-1 win over Manchester City on Thursday, and while they're celebrating now, they'll be tasked with continuing their dominance into the future. It'll be extremely hard for Liverpool to dominate like United did many years ago, but they have all the tools to continue their success.
Next up on Liverpool's schedule is a matchup with Manchester City on July 2, followed by a meeting with Aston Villa on July 5.
