Manchester United midfielder gets married to football coach

Manchester United have seen one of their midfielders celebrate a major milestone away from football during what is proving to be a busy summer at Old Trafford.

United are still expected to strengthen in midfield before the transfer window closes.

They have already reached an agreement with Atalanta for Brazilian midfielder Ederson.

Further additions could follow after Casemiro departed upon the expiry of his contract, while Manuel Ugarte’s long-term future remains uncertain.

However, one current United star has been making headlines for reasons away from the pitch.

Manchester United midfielder Ella Toone has announced that she has married football coach Joe Bunney.

The news was confirmed on Instagram, with Toone sharing a series of wedding photographs.

Bunney, who is listed on Instagram as a co-founder and coach at ET7 Academy and ET7 Camp, shared the post jointly with the United player.

Supporters and fellow footballers quickly flooded the comments section with congratulatory messages.

Toone has become one of the most important players in Marc Skinner’s squad since the club’s formation.

Although primarily deployed as an attacking midfielder or number 10, the England international is also capable of operating as a number eight or even as a centre-forward when required.

The 26-year-old recorded three goals and eight assists in 25 appearances during the 2025/26 campaign.

Across the previous two seasons, she contributed 17 goals and 13 assists in all competitions, underlining her importance to the side.

Earlier this year, Ella Toone was also officially presented with an MBE in recognition of her services to football.

The midfielder remains a key player for both Manchester United and England heading into the new season.

For now, though, Toone and Bunney have taken time to celebrate a special occasion before preparations begin for the 2026/27 campaign.
